Nationalist Congress Party, the pre-poll alliance partner
of the ruling Congress, has demanded cabinet berths for all
their three legislators.
Jose Philip D'Souza, the Vasco MLA-elect, has already been
inducted in the cabinet. The rest are Micky Pacheco from Benaulim
and Nilkanth Halarnkar from Tivim.
On the other hand, independent MLA Anil Salgaoncar has extended
his support to the NCP and not the Congress.
"I am privileged to accept your invitation to be a supporter
of the legislative wing of the NCP party whilst continuing
in the Goa Assembly as an independent", Mr Salgaoncar
stated in a letter written to Sharad Pawar, the NCP national
president.
Dr Wilfred de Souza, the state NCP president, released the
letter to the media today.
He however ruled out the possibility of the Congress-led
ruling alliance having the post of the deputy chief minister.
Meanwhile, chief minister Digambar Kamat, along with protem
speaker Alexio Sequeira, MLAs-elect Dayanand Narvekar and
Mauvin Godinho as well as MP Shantaram Naik today afternoon
left for Delhi.
Minister Ravi Naik is already in Delhi.
They are expected to meet party president Sonia Gandhi, to
finalise the ministerial names as well as their portfolios.
Prafull Patel, the NCP national secretary, would also be
part of the delegation to Mrs Gandhi, Dr de Souza told the
media persons in Goa.
