The United Goans Democratic
Party today expelled its sole MLA Babush Monseratte for withdrawing support to
the Goa Democratic Alliance without the party organisation's consent.
Reacting
to the action taken against him, Monseratte said: I am now an independent MLA
on the eve of independence.
As per the law, however, he would be now termed
an unattached member.
According to party's secretary general Anacleto Viegas,
they were unable to file disqualification petition against their MLA since he
was the sole legislator.
Monseratte did not attend today's meeting in spite
of invitation.
The UGDP has also decided not to keep any contact with Monseratte
as well as the Congress.
When asked for how long, Viegas however said that
nobody is a permanent enemy in politics.
