Dismiss Govt : Parrikar

Sandesh Prabhudesai
16 January 2008

Manohar Parrikar, the state opposition leader, has demanded that the Digambar Kamat government be dismissed immediately.

Addressing a press conference after the adjournment of the House, the state BJP leader claimed that it is a clear indication of the government being in minority.

When asked whether the BJP would move into action following this development, Parrikar took a guarded stand stating that they would decide about it later.

Political circles feel that the whole development could lead to mere change of leadership within the Congress rather than forming alternate government.

Speaker Pratapsing Rane, in the meanwhile, has clarified that he is not in the race of becoming the chief minister again.
