Chief minister Digambar Kamat is trying to salvage the government
by getting the ongoing Assembly session prorogued.
The seven-day session was to end tomorrow and the appropriation
bill - a finance bill - was to come up for voting today. It
was postponed last minute yesterday to avoid the defeat on
the floor of the House.
Highly placed sources in the government confirmed that the
state cabinet, which met early morning today at Cidade de
Goa resort, has recommended prorogation of the House.
The letter in this regard would go to the governor via legislature
secretariat.
Sources in the Raj Bhavan said no such recommendation has
been received yet.
However, the prorogation may be declared before the Assembly
meets at 2.30 pm.
Kamat would then get little more time to try and salvage
his government, though presently he has no number to prove
the majority.
Meanwhile, Siddharth Patel and Hariprasad of the Congress
and NCP's union aviation minister Prafull Patel have already
arrived in Goa to save the government.
