Directorate of Film Festivals,
the cenral organisers of the IFFI, has raised its contribution to Rs three crore
this year.
"It is 50 per cent more than last year," said Neelam
Kapoor, the director of Film Festival.
The Goa government however has reduced
its budget, by cancelling the street festival it was having for the last three
years on the Campal street in the capital city.
Goa will host IFFI between
November 23 to December three in its capital city of Panaji. The state government,
which has been hosting the festival since 2004, has had a massive cut down on
its contribution for the festival.
Official figures reveal that as against
Rs 14 crore last year, the IFFI this year would be a Rs 6 crore to Rs 8 crore
affair, excluding the DFF contribution. Of this Rs 3 crore would be spent on hospitality.
The director stated that DFF's increased expenditure will be incurred in
setting up of a film bazaar, which this time will be in two five-star resorts
in the capital city itself.
The organisers this year are acting contrary
to its earlier practice of having film bazaars in the IFFI venue by setting up
stalls. "We are doing away with the system of stalls from this year onwards,"
Kapoor said.
