Vishwajeet backstabbed us: Babush

Sandesh Prabhudesai
19 January 2008

Taleigao MLA Babush Monseratte today blasted his rebel colleague Vishwajeet Rane, alleging that he hatched a conspiracy to make his father - speaker Pratapsing Rane -the chief minister by using them.

Realising that he has been left all alone by all the rebels who rushed to Delhi to get the ministerial berths, Babush said he however would continue supporting the Digambar Kamat government, even without being part of it.

Babush further alleged that he would never align with Vishwajeet, who has backstabbed the whole move by striking a last-minute compromise without his knowledge.

Vishwajeet today apparently rushed to Delhi along with MGP leader Sudin Dhawalikar when he came to know about the Congress plan to induct Babush into the cabinet. The Congress high command immediately agreed to the new formula and opted for Dhawalikar rather than Babush.

Meanwhile, NCP's former ministers Micky Pacheco and Jose Philip D'Souza also rushed to Delhi, fearing losing the berths if Babush was also inducted in the cabinet, keeping them out.

The greedy attitude ultimately resulted into the rebels' group splitting on the grounds of suspicion that helped the Congress-NCP to restore its government by resolving the four-day long political crisis.

Left alone, Babush has now also given up his demands of stripping off Dayanand Narvekar and Churchill Alemao of their finance and PWD portfolios. "The demands have lost all the meaning now", he quipped.

"I am satisfied if the IT habitat is scrapped", he added.

Congress legislator Sham Satardekar and Save Goa legislator Alex Reginald Lawrenco, who were also present at the press conference, said they had never left their respective parties.
