bodies shifted to Goa

The Konkan railway authorities today shifted 24 dead bodies
of the victims from the site of the tragic rail mishap that
occurred near Kankavli in Sindhudurg district in Maharashtra,
on Sunday night.
However, only 13 bodies were identified until today evening
by their relatives. Only five of them were claimed by their
relatives.
Some of the bodies shifted to the Goa Medical College hospital
morgue here are in an unidentifiable state.
The Konkan Railway Corporation authorities stated that altogether
51 dead bodies were recovered, until they stopped rescue operations
today afternoon.
Dr Silvano Sapeco, in-charge of the forensic section of the
GMC hospital, admitted that relatives are finding it tough
to identify the bodies as visual signs of recognising the
bodies are missing in some cases.
The victims include one two-year old girl child, who died
along with her mother Sarita Sunil Gawas, from Goa. Sandra
and Sharon D'Costa, two more Goans, also lost their lives
in the horrifying mishap.
Other mishap victims identified here in Goa are Diogo Alex
Rosario, 38, a couple Nilkanth, 58 and Suman Mahale, 52 and
Ronie Bosteau Fernandes, 16 (all from Karwar), Subodh Ghosh,
23 (Nagpur), Laxman Jana Kanzavade, 22 (Thane), Sanjay Singh,
24 (Jharkhand), V J Jimmy (Kerala), 25 and Chandrashekhar
Dalvi, 45 (Bangalore).
