Founder Editor of English daily Gomantak Times, Mohan
Rao, died here today. He was 79.
Rao started Gomantak Times in February 1988, and remained
its editor till December 1989. Thereafter, he started a weekly
called Goa Post, which he edited till he retired.
Rao continued to live in Goa after retirement, and wrote
occasionally for local newspapers.
Before coming to Goa, Rao was executive editor of the weekly
Current for a number of years. Earlier, he had been
consulting editor of The Economic Scene, and assistant
editor of Indian Express and Financial Express
in Mumbai and New Delhi.
Rao is survived by his wife, Chitra and his daughter Anjali.
According to his wish, his body has been donated to the Goa
Medical College for scientific research.
The family has requested that no condolence visits or calls
be made to them.
