decide Kamat's fate

Eyes are set on the afternoon Assembly session that would
decide the fate of the 49-day old Digambar Kamat government.
The BJP-led alliance has paraded all 21 legislators in their
camp, including Victoria Fernandes, who resigned from the
Congress.
Naming it as the Goa Democratic Front, state opposition leader
Manohar Parrikar said the front would defeat the government
during voting on budgetary demands today, if Kamat does not
resign.
On the other hand, Kamat still insists that he can prove
his majority on the floor of the House today itself.
With Save Goa Front leader Churchill Alemao being elected
the convenor of the GDF, the front has roped in 14 BJP, two
each of the SGF and the MGP, one UGDP and one independent.
Since governor S C Jamir is arriving from Delhi tomorrow,
Parrikar said they would formally stake their claim tomorrow
by meeting him, after defeating the Congress-led alliance
in the House.
Parleys in the Congress camp with other groups, including
those who have joined the BJP-led front, continued from Kamat's
official bungalow at Altinho.
Urban development minister Joaquim Alemao, brother of Churchill
who had threatened to topple the government two days ago,
as well as health minister Vishwajeet Rane, independent son
of speaker Pratapsing Rane, were seen actively working with
Kamat to save the government.
Vishwajeet is free to join us, said Parrikar at a press conference
today afternoon. He had yesterday claimed that Vishwajeet
had supported them.
Joaquim, whose name was topping in the resignation list of
Congressmen, also claimed that he will never quit the party
even if his brother has taken initiative in toppling the government.
"We belong to different parties and thoughts",
said Alemaos, who had both planned to topple the Kamat government
two days ago.
