mafia nexus

Noting the police force failed to enforce law and order situation,
the Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has alleged that
a nexus exists between the officials and land mafia in the
state.
"Police stations are becoming political interference
hot-beds and the strong nexus between policemen and builders
is becoming a threat to landowners, who refuse to part with
their land for cheap prises," Leader of Opposition Manohar
Parrikar said here today.
"Land mafia get all required protection.... this is
really worrying people," he said adding some landowners
in Calangute tourist area are being harassed by the builders.
Parrikar contended that the Digamber Kamat government has
failed on the law and order front, which is evident from the
fact that thefts are increasing day by day in Chief Minister's
own constituency -- Poreium.
"Every alternate day, jewellary shops are looted in
CM's constituency besides burglary of other shops and houses
in the last 30 days.... what can the common man expect from
police officials who are busy obeying their political masters,"
he said.
Parrikar said the 'State Security Commission' has never met
since its inception in April this year. He, being a member
of the CM-headed commission, has written to state Director
General of Police to call for an urgent meeting.
"They are afraid to face me because I have proof of
police's wrong doings," the former Chief Minister alleged.
