I will win : Digambar/Parrikar

Sandesh Prabhudesai
29 July 2007

Chief minister Digambar Kamat and opposition leader Manohar Parrikar have both claimed that they would win in the House tomorrow.

The trust vote is scheduled to be held at 2.30 pm tomorrow, as per the directives issued by governor S C Jamir.

Twenty legislators belonging to the Goa Democratic Alliance, who had paraded themselves before President Pratibha Patil, arrived in Goa today via Mumbai.

The MLAs of the Congress-led alliance will come to the House tomorrow straight from the Taj Resorts at Candolim.

While expressing confidence that they would defeat the trust vote, Parrikar today told the media that three more Congress legislators would cross the floor after he forms the government.

He has already claimed that health minister Vishwajeet Rane, an independent, will support the GDA.

Kamat however dismissed these claims arguing why anybody would cross the floor when he is going to win the trust vote.

Since Victoria Fernandes is not qualified, I have 20 with me, he reiterated.

However, with Pratapsing Rane sitting in the speaker's seat, Kamat reduces to minority with 19 in the House.

"You will see how I can manage it", he said, when journalists asked him to solve this riddle.
