Describing as "manipulation"
the Goa assembly Speaker's decision to restrain three legislators from taking
part in the confidence vote, the Forward Bloc today asked Governor S C Jamir to
take corrective steps to prevent the issue from being taken to court.
"The
fraudulent method adopted by the Speaker reveals once again the ugly face of Congress
to cling to power by manipulation," the Left party's General Secretary Debabrata
Biswas said here.
He alleged Speaker Pratapsinh Rane's decision not to allow
the three MLAs to vote was "shameful and a mockery" of democracy.
The
Governor should intervene and take corrective steps to protect democracy and Constitutional
principles "instead of dragging the whole development in the court".
Meanwhile,
BJP in Hyderabad today termed Goa Assembly Speaker's decision of restraining three
MLAs from voting as "undemocratic".
"It was a daylight murder
of democracy", BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar told reporters here.
"It
was absurd the Speaker acted on the complaint of third party (Congress) which
was unheard in a democratic system", he said.
The Speaker had restrained
two legislators of MGP and one dissident MLA of Congress from taking part in the
vote of confidence on a complaint filed by the Congress, he said.
Javadekar
said the party would raise the issue at all fora and approach the judiciary for
justice.
