The Digambar Kamat cabinet has decided to activate the machinery
to issue birth certificates within 48 hours.
The Congress-led alliance government took few vital decisions
at its first cabinet meeting held today.
Instructions have been issued to all the mamlatdars in this
regard, chief minister Kamat told the media.
Similarly, the concerned authorities have also been instructed
to re-issue caste certificates, after a photocopy of the original
is produced, instead of going through the whole procedure
once again.
The cabinet has also set up a ministerial sub-committee to
decide upon all the major infrastructural projects.
Headed by the chief minister himself, the sub-committee will
consist of Ravi Naik, Sudin Dhavalikar and Dayanand Narvekar.
"We have decided to focus on priority upon the police,
collectorates, health, panchayats and municipalities and improve
their functioning as the common man has to frequently visit
these areas", said Kamat.
Accordingly, he yesterday ordered the health authorities
to activate the casualty department at all the government
hospitals, including the Goa Medical College hospital.
