Shivaram Mane, 14, simply picked up
a piece of a broken glass and cut through the neck of
three-year old Nelroy Gomes, killing and throwing him
in a pond.
The reason was as childish as their
age was. Nelroy called him pig and Shivaram wanted to
take revenge.
It was panic situation in the village
of Talaulim, Navelim - a suburb of Margao city in South
Goa, when Nelroy had suddenly disappeared while playing
outside the house in the morning.
And it was a shock when his bloodstained
body was found in a nearby pond late evening, when Shivaram
himself brought the news that a hand is seen floating
out in the pond.
The police immediately brought the
dog squad the dog jumped at Shivaram, the 14-year old
son of a working class family in the neighbourhood,
which had come down from the Belgaum district of Karnataka.
While fingers were pointed at Shivaram,
he initially kept on telling different stories but finally
confessed that he wanted to settle scores with Nelroy,
who may not even know that pig was a bad word.
As nobody was around while Nelroy was
playing outside, Shivaram picked him, took him to the
pond, picked up a broken glass of a windowpane lying
nearby and slit his neck. "He did not even cry", said
Shivaram.
The post-mortem report also revealed
that Nelroy died due to shock and haemorrhage caused
by a sharp incised wound. The wound was one millimetre
deep and five centimetres long, stated the report.
Shivaram has been now sent to the juvenile
home while parents of both the accused and the victim
have still not recovered from the shock.
