Speaker Pratapsing Rane is
likely to issue his verdict at 2 pm today, half an hour before the crucial Assembly
begins at 2.30 pm, on the four disqualification petition filed against five MLAs.
The Congress has filed three petitions against Dhavalikar brothers of the
MGP, their own MLA Victoria Fernandes and independent MLA Anil Salgaoncar.
The
BJP, on the other hand, has also filed a petition against health minister Vishwajeet
Rane, an independent and son of speaker Rane.
The Assembly witnessed little
confusion today morning as MGP MLA Sudin Dhavalikar, who came to meet the speaker
along with BJP leader Manohar Parrikar and MGP president Pandurang Raut, were
not allowed to enter.
The complex has been blocked from all sides, not allowing
anybody inside.
Dhavalikar later on told the media that Rane allowed them
to enter and submit their documents, but they were not heard.
He submitted
the minutes book of the joint meeting of the central committee and the legislature
party that allowed the MGP leaders to decide upon withdrawing support to the government.
Fernandes
has filed the petition, claiming that Dhavalikar brothers had withdrawn support
to the government without the consent of the party.
Adv Nitin Sardesai argued
on Fernandes' behalf today morning.
Parrikar, meanwhile, told the media
that they would move to the high court if Dhavalikar brothers were restrained
from voting today, when chief minister Digambar Kamat would move the trust vote.
