Confusion continues to prevail in the Congress camp in spite
of party emissaries flying down from Delhi to resolve the
leadership crisis.
Union power minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, along with Margaret
Alva and others, yesterday once again met all the Congress
legislators as well as the defeated candidates to ascertain
their views on who should be the leader.
Though majority legislators have favoured Ravi Naik, anti-Ravi
camp within the Congress was also supported by the MGP leader
Sudin Dhavalikar and independent candidate Vishwajeet Rane,
son of chief minister Pratapsing Rane.
Both of them also met Governor S C Jamir today, offering
their support to the government, provided Rane is made the
CM.
Ravi, in the meanwhile, reportedly approached Churchill Alemao
to support him with his two legislators of the Save Goa Front.
This move was instantly opposed by two Congress bigwigs -
Francisco Sardinha and Luizinho Faleiro.
Both of them have even reportedly threatened to resign from
the party if Alemao's support was sought to form the coalition
government.
Salcete, predominantly a Christian taluka, was this time
damaged by Alemao, who had sought support of the BJP. The
saffron party did not field its candidates against Alemao's
SGF.
Shinde later on told the media persons that the issue would
be resolved by tomorrow.
