The local bench of Mumbai
high court has referred the petition field by rebel Congress legislator Victoria
Fernandes to the chief justice of the high court.
Victoria, who has resigned
from the party, had filed the petition before the local bench of the Mumbai high
court here, challenging Speaker's decision not to accept her resignation and restraining
her from voting in the recent trial of strength in the Assembly.
"This
is violation of my rights. Speaker refused to accept my resignation under some
or other pretext and also debarred me from voting in the House," said furious
Victoria.
She returned from her week long Delhi trip, along with her 19
colleagues belonging to the Goa Democratic Alliance. It includes the BJP, Save
Goa Front, the UGDP and one independent.
"I have no other option but
to seek justice from the judiciary. The Speaker acted in a partisan manner,"
she said while lamenting speaker Pratapsing Rane.
Meanwhile, BJP leader
Manohar Parrikar, at a press conference held late last night, hit out at Governor
S C Jamir, condemning his shabby and dubious role in sustaining the minority government
headed by Digambar Kamat.
"The same governor had dismissed my government
in 2005 in spite of me winning the confidence vote", he added.
"We
followed proper political course before approaching the Supreme Court to plead
our case," said the former chief minister.
The 20 legislators, during
their Delhi trip, met union home minister Shivraj Patil and even paraded themselves
before the Supreme Court.
