Digambar remote-controlled: Parrikar

Sandesh Prabhudesai
8 June 2007

Digambar Kamat is sitting in the chief minister's chair with his remote control in somebody else's hand, alleged Manohar Parrikar, the opposition leader.

He, at a press conference, however did not name the person he was referring to.

Reacting to Kamat being chosen as the new leader, Parrikar opined that Ravi Naik would have been a better choice since he had enough experience of handling administration in the past.

The BJP leader also warned to move no confidence motion against Kamat government if the governor did not tell him to prove his majority on the floor of the House. It is necessary, he felt, since the Congress did not have clear majority in the 40-member House.

Parrikar was also sceptical about stability of this coalition government since Kamat did not have support of his own Congress legislators.

Meanwhile, Parrikar alleged that the Congress had spent not less than Rs 80 to 100 crore to woo the electorate and win elections.
