Special arrangements are being made to ensure that both the
film industry delegates as well as the general public have
access to the best of Indian and world cinema in the International
Film Festival of India-2007, which opens in Goa on November
23.
Reacting to media reports that there would be no public screening,
director of the film festival Neelam Kapur said for the last
three years general public were being registered as delegates
for the film festival and had full access to the all the films
including the ones shown in the Competition Section.
Terming the media reports as "incorrect", she said
a large number of people had already registered online as
delegates at IFFI website ( www.Iifi.Nic.In).
"Out of the 5,000-6,000 delegates expected for this
year's festival, about 1,500 are going to be from the general
public," Kapur told PTI adding the registration fee for
the festival is Rs 300 per person.
She said celebrated Spanish film director Carlos Saura's
critically-acclaimed film 'Fados' will be the closing film
at the festival.
Meanwhile, a new ticketing system - as followed in prestigious
film festivals like Cannes and Berlin - is being put in place
for the first time this year, she said.
Under the system, the delegates - including the members of
the public who have registered - can book their tickets for
the film they would like to see well in advance.
"This would eliminate the long queues and waiting period
that had marred the experience of film goers at the film festival
last year," the IFFI director said.
