The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched array
of services to its customers in Maharashtra and Goa circle.
From this morning onwards, the BSNL customers can do away
with the answering machine instruments. Instead, this facility
can be installed in their instrument with no additional cost.
The subscribers can use answering machine service from their
basic phone without connecting any additional answering machine
equipment.
``The messages retrieval would be charged as per normal call
rate,'' stated Mr R N Bharadwaj, chief general manager, Maharashtra
circle. The call can be sent to answering machine either on
busy or no reply of the phone.
In yet another additional facility, the subscribers can send
SMS from the landline to any mobile. The SMS can be sent by
dialing 1501 from a landline. ``It's like a pager service
where you can keep a message with the operator,'' stated Mr
Bharadwaj who briefed press along with general manager, telecommunication,
Mr N Chenchaiah. This service is already launched in Pune
city.
Competing with the other mobile service providers, the BSNL
also launched its mobile galleries. This gallary will be open
till 5 p.m.
According to Mr Bharadwaj, the BSNL is toying up with the
idea to sign memorandum of understanding with MTNL. ``The
MoU is important from the customers view point. This would
streamline the procedure especially for those customers shifting
between both the telephone service providers,'' he stated.
The Maharashtra circle is also expected to get broad band
service. ``This service already exists in Calcutta and Bangalore.
It's successfully launched there,'' stated Mr Bharadwaj. It
will take at least 6 to 8 months for this service to reach
other parts.
With this, the BSNL would be able to increase the kind of
services provided to its customers. ``It will contribute to
the volume of traffic and hence the revenue,'' stated Mr Bharadwaj.
