Goa`s National Award-winning Director Rajendra Talak has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a local news channel, Prudent, for the television premiere of his Konkani films.

The MoU was signed today between Prudent Media General Manager Sonia Kuncalienkar and Producer of the films Bhalchandra Bakhle.

This is for the first time any Goa channel has entered into such an arrangement for TV premiere of Konkani movies.

Prudent Media would be telecasting films like `O Maria`, `Aleesha`, `Antarnad` and `Savaariya.com` between December 11 and April 11, 2012.

"The basic concept behind entering into the deal with Prudent Media was to ensure that Konkani films reach every household," Talak said.

`O Maria`, a movie which deals with the issue of Goa losing its identity, had celebrated silver jubilee in the state`s two multiplexes.

Talak won the National Award for `Aleesha`, which revolves around anti-mining pollution.

Sandesh Prabhudesai, Editor-in-Chief, Prudent Media, said the channel is being watched in 3.5 lakh households in the state and is gaining popularity.

The basic idea behind the MoU was to have a festival of Talak`s films on the television and ensure viewers watch best of Konkani cinema, he added.
