Is Wagh rumour a checkmate 'for' Shripad?

BJP’s St Andre MLA Vishnu Wagh has dismissed the rumours of contesting Lok Sabha election on the ticket of Nationalist Congress Party.

He however admits meeting NCP supremo Sharad Pawar during his Goa visit last month, but with some demands to the union agricultural minister and for theatre activities.

Political analysts however view the rumour as a checkmate to a lobby within the BJP, which is working against fielding BJP MP Shripad Naik from North Goa for the third consecutive time.

Both Naik and Wagh belong to Bhandari community, supposedly the largest populated in Goa, and both of them are known to close to each other.

In fact Wagh had invited him recently as a chief guest at Master Dattaram Drama Festival organized by Goa Kala Academy, of which the St Andre MLA is the chairman.

“Is it possible to invite and project your own political rival at your programme”, asks one BJP supporter, who does not wish him to be quoted.

Wagh however does not deny the fact that he is more interested in contesting Lok Sabha election than the Assembly.

“I became the MLA by accident and sitting in Lok Sabha has been my dream since 1996”, he says.

However, he dismisses the rumour that he met Pawar to fulfill his dream through the NCP.

According to him, he met Pawar to widen the scope of the ICAR branch in his constituency and also regarding Balgandharv Rasik Sabha formed by Pawar in Maharashtra.

“I will remain loyal to my party and would contest Lok Sabha election only if the party decides to replace Naik with me”, he claimed.

Political analysts feel that it could be the move of the Shripad-supporting lobby to threaten the BJP leadership.

The move is that Wagh would contest on the NCP ticket if Shripad is denied BJP ticket and the whole Shripad-supporting lobby would work for Wagh.

As Wagh may lose the seat of MLA as well as the prestigious chairmanship of Kala Academy as well as vice chairmanship of Entertainment Society of Goa, analysts wonder why Wagh could take such a step when there is no guarantee of  the UPA coming back to power.

However, analysts also admit that Wagh could win the North Goa seat thumbs down if BJP does not field Shripad Naik and would surely lose if Wagh contests against Naik on the NCP ticket. is now on Telegram & also Youtube. Kindly subscribe for free & remain updated.

Vishnu Wagh is only a vaghela compared to the seasoned Shripad Naik, the real 'wagh' of North Goa parliamentary constituency. One does not become a wagh in politics just because of name.

Wagh's political history also speaks for itself and his records show that he, as said by J. Kamat, is a party hopper

After JD(U) severed ties with the BJP, chances of UPA coming back to power are brightening and that is why many will try for the North Goa parliamentary ticket as NCP or Congress candidates.

Having said that, Shripad is so strong that no candidate except perhaps Pratapsingh Rane could defeat him, as of now.

So far he is merely a PAPER TIGER. Does he expect Sharad Pawar to fund his election campaign fully? Then he must be in fool's paradise. Wagh should wait for another 3 years and work hard to enhance his assets in the current BJP rule. Is the money earned from IFFI ? No for an election of an MP you need more money. Look at Ravi, Babush, Narvekar,Churchills, Vishwajeet, Shripad, Subhash, Parsekar etc. They have got enough back up of ill gotten funds so that they can jump. Wagh you are the hope of bahujan samaaj. Don't commit politicL SUICIDE. AS IT IS NO ONE TRUSTS YOU. You have joined almost every party in Goa. So now make hay while Parrikar shines and I am sure after another 3 to 4 years you will have enough money to dictate your own terms. Learn some bamon budd from the names mentioned above.

You have such a golden opportunity. Do not mess with it. Afterall you are the gen next after Subhash / Ravi era of leadership. Your one immature act will strenghten the public belief that only Bamons ( not necessarily by birth ) are intelligent.

Wagh is a highly sophisticated party hopper. In his short time in politics he has made rounds with all the political parties. He is also desperately casteist. He is gifted orator but will misuse the gift for selfish gains.

I won't be surprised he accepting even Congress ticket for N. Goa Lok Sabha.

One should not expect too much from Vishnu Wagh.

He seems to be stuck in a Time-Warp.

His constant Anti -Portuguese & Anti -English language rants, do not bode too well, for a Modernising India & Goa which are now part of the Global Village.

While most Goans wish to leave the Colonial past behind & let bygones be bygones, and move over to modern Democracies & be a part of the New world Order...Poor old "dumpy" ,Vishnu Wagh finds it difficult.

I "speculate" that his move to the BJP, was purely in the hope he would be able have more freedom to indulge in corrupt activities. Sadly, this is not possible due to the strict directives by CM Parrikar to his MLA`s not to indulge in corrupt acts.

Churchill Alemao has lost the trust of many people for changing his Political Party affilations and also Public Interest slogans. It seems like Dumpy Vishnu Wagh wishes to follow the same.

No doubt he has not learnt that "fools rush in where wise men fear to tread".
