News Analysed, Opinions Expressed

KALZANTLYAN

Will you vote for Satya Pal Malik if he contests?

Don't be taken in by the crocodile tears of the GFP, CONGRESS, or the MGP at Malik’s departure. They are playing to the Raj Bhavan gallery. Their economic and political agenda is a splitting-twin image of the current BJP dispensation.

It was certainly an expected high-voltage shock, as GOA’s much-loved Governor was bundled out of the state, without any ceremony, to far-off Meghalaya.

This Go-East command was clearly due to the fact that the Governor exceeded his brief and rightly walloped the flailing Pramod Sawant government.

On issues every proud Goan sanctimoniously claims are dear to the Goans' hearts.

So far, so good!!

The reactions to the Satya Pal Malik ouster have taken three different hues:

1. The vast majority, which believes a true "Goan" voice, was stifled.

Malik spoke truth to power and his stock amongst Goans rose even higher since it was a BJP governor blasting a BJP government.

A James Comey to a Donald Trump if you will!!

2. A tiny BJP constituency, which feels a governor cannot infringe on legislative turf so brazenly, and get away with it.

So for constitutional propriety, he had to go.

Never mind that BJP-appointed governors routinely savage opposition governments, as in WB or Maharashtra or Delhi or Kerala...the list is endless.

3. A significant portion of Goans on the beach belt, so doped out they don't give a damn, and are wondering what the fuss is all about.

A governor they think is a code word for where the next rave party is to take place!

Screw number 2 & 3. They are incorrigible and duplicitous.

Let's focus on the first group, which we all like to think we belong to.

The outraged, livid, frothing-at-the-mouth types, who are aghast that a man who spoke the “TRUTH" was thrown under the bus.

There is just one question that pops into my mind and it is this:

Would Goa, if Satya Pal Malik were to contest elections, vote him in resoundingly??

And the emphatic answer is NO

Forget the usual communal/ secular tribe or the Hindu/ Catholic jugalbandi.

Essentially, over the last decade or so, the battle of ideas in Goa has been between the two models of development.

The destructive mining, sex/ drug/ booze tourism, and the rampant, ghastly construction industry on one side.

And the sustainable industry: where GOA’s environment remains sacrosanct, its identity celebrated, and the knowledge/tech/education industry remain the key drivers of the economy.

And even a prized donkey, of the calibre of Winnie the Pooh, would tell you which side of the debate is winning.

So each and every member of the Assembly and every political party sides with the destructive model of GOA’s development.

Consistently, convincingly, and crushingly!!

So don't be taken in by the crocodile tears of the GFP, CONGRESS, or the MGP at Malik’s departure.

They are playing to the Raj Bhavan gallery.

Their economic and political agenda is a splitting-twin image of the current BJP dispensation.

The nub of GOA’s steady and inexorable demise is that the sustainable development model of governance can't get a single legislator or party in power to ruthlessly push its agenda.

Of course, there is untiring and often tiresome activism, there is moral outrage on social media, and fervent prayers to all the deaf lords in heaven.

But there is no vote, there is no mandate, there is no voice that is unflinchingly truly OURs  in the corridors of power.

Hence Satya Pal  Malik found such enormous resonance amongst Goans.

But in a way, he also exposed our utter impotence and unbelievable inability to translate years of grass-root activism into some form of political power.

Political power that is an essential pre-requisite to change our careening, off-the-cliff destiny.

In sum then, Praising Satya Pal Malik is easy, Being  Satya  Pal Malik is tough!!

And come 2022, I can bet my last dollar that Goans, for reasons of patronage and ideology and fear, will vote in the destructive model all over again.

And confirm that our tears shed at the dismissal of Satya Pal Malik were just some droplets of salt we actually rubbed into GOA’s wounds.

PROTESTERS who voted Congress, BJP, GFP, MGP, NCP, Independent & Regional Parties should vote AAP and ALL YOUR PROBLEMS WILL BE SOLVED IMMEDIATELY. Not talking in Air but speaking with ground realities after seeing Delhi pro-People’s Government, the Aam Aadmi Party. Same pro-People’s Government can be brought in Goa by rejecting BJP, Congress, GFP, MGP, NCP, Independents & Regional Parties.

What is the point you are making, apart from, and as usual, fruitless, perennial and incoherent ramblings (meaningless)? Just like the masturbation pleasures one seeks once in a while. Get into the actual act, if you will!!

James Comey was an FBI director appointed by Obama but Trump continued with him because he was Republican-minded and Trump thought he would wield his way around him. Can't stop drooling over white stuff ha?

What is the comparison here? Governor is a ceremonial head who actually has no business to make his nose brown in the shit that is Govt. He is more like a 'Ganpati' who is installed and immersed as per the wish of the Govt. of the day. Unlike Indian 'Bappa' Governors, an US FBI director has actual powers. Blame it on Indian constitution, Malik tried to garner some cheap publicity at the cost of Govt. and paid the price!!

You raise some good points about actual nexus between several lobbies, can you write more about them on case by case basis, or rather expose that nexus? E.g., MonseRat and sex, Babu/Ravi and Drugs, Salgaokar/Dempo and other thieves and Minings, etc.? Do you have guts to do that? Or you are going only after BJP symptoms, forgetting the big cancer underneath.

Unfortunately, the basic premise is wrong in that the first move of his was to support the mining industry and the govts moves to renew leases of the same lease holders which the courts struck down. Then came the media hype creating the image of the governor as pro Goa and opposing BJP CM which was in fact a cover up of his support to the destructive mining seen in recent years. This was orchestrated by mining owned media and others on their payroll including an eminent activist lawyer, who overhyped the governor's general comments to flood media with their own narrative which the gullible public and even political opponents either swallowed or played along with.
