Ladies steal the show at Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias Open 2016

 

It was an eventful and exciting day when the ladies took over the courts at the Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias Open 2016 presently underway at the club.

First up was the match between Anuskha and Simran Bundela, which had all the makings of a great match.

Both the ladies battled it out with long rallies and close net calls but Simran Bundela got the all-important win ( 7-1 ) as she moves into the Semi –finals of the U-12 girls category where she will be facing Wynona.

In the next ladies match, Sheetal and Charmaine entertained the fans gathered over at the top viewing gallery. 

Both ladies went toe to toe in their match up. Charmaine won the match (9-0) to enter the semi- Finals.

In the U-16 girls category Saumya will play the semi finals game against Shanley to make it to the finals at the same time Rutuja will play against Ibtisam in the semi finals.

Over in the veteran’s category David came out all guns blazing to win 7-0 over Max Chandra in the morning session.

On court number two Jude got the better of Sandeep winning 9-1 to progress into the next round along with David.

In the Veterans doubles category Suresh and Dee won by a 9-4 margin over Raiturkar and Milind to progress into the next round. In the Mens Doubles Bulu and Tejas won convincingly to defeat David and Manoj (9-1).


With the semi finals and finals fast approaching the games are now coming in thick and fast.

The next few fays will witness match ups of the Men and Women Singles, Men Doubles, Women Doubles, Under 16 Boys and Girls and Veterans Category.

Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias Open 2016 commenced with a total of 122 entries coming in across 10 categories.

The tournament is being organized by Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias, Goa’s first tennis club in partnership with Goa State Tennis Association (GSTA) and Gadre Premium Seafood.

Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias Open 2016 will be an annual fixture on the state’s tennis calendar.

Spread over five days, matches are scheduled between 7am and 10am in the morning and between 4pm and 10pm in the evening.

The finals will be held on the 31st of January 2016.
