Simran, Tejas seize the titles of Gaspar Dias Open Tennis

Tournament favorite Tejas Shevde¬¬¬¬ won the finals of the Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias Open 2016 in a thrilling match against Gustavo Perziano.

Tejas Shevde came out with his ‘A’ game for the finals and won 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 to defeat Gustavo Perziano.

Simran Khan overpowered Charmaine Godinho to win 6-2, 6-3 in Women single category.

In the Mens Doubles category, the pairing of Tejas and Bulu won, comfortably defeated Santosh and Gustavo 6-2, 6-3. 

In the Veteran Doubles category Kevin and Sadguru took down Noel and Manoj in a fiercely fought match 6-1, 5-7,( 10-7).  

Noel Noronha won in the veterans singles category against Prema Sherpa 6-3,5-3 .

Noel suffered an injury in the final set of the match, two points short of winning. As play couldn’t resume due to Noel’s injury, Sherpa displayed a sporting spirit and conceded the match.

The finals of the Under 16 boys category saw  Vardhan Karkal triumphant over Jaybhaye Ramkishan winning 6-1,6-0.

In the Girls Under 16 category, Ibtisam Shaikh won  against Saumya Sukhthankar to claim the trophy.

In the Under 12 boys Arnav Oruganty won the finals defeating Felix Craven 4-0,4-0.

In the Under 12 girls category Rutuja Prabhudessai defeated Simran Bundela 4-0,4-0 to win the finals.

Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias President Yogesh Nadkarni and Secteray Rajesh Khaunte along with GSTA President Nathan Chowgule and Arjun Gadre, MD, Gadre Premium Seafood, gave away the trophies to the winners at the award ceremony held immediately after the finals.
