Margao police file FIR against Rajeev, calling him ‘Portuguese’

Margao police today filed FIR against special public prosecutor Adv Rajeev Gomes, alleging that he is a Portuguese national.

The FIR is filed on the basis of a complaint filed yesterday by Santana Piedade Afonso, president of Cuncolim Peoples Forum.

The complaint is similar to the complaint filed by Colva panch Calvert Gonsalves against Adv Aires Rodrigues, at the initiative of Adv Gomes.

Aires however has denied his hand in filing similar complaint against Gomes, though he has been actively propagating the progress of the complaint through social media.

And now it’s turn of Adv Gomes to state what Adv Aires said when a similar complaint was filed against him.

Adv Gomes, on WhatsApp said:

“I welcome the registration of FIR against me. I have nothing to hide. I reiterate that I am an Indian National. I am confident the Goa Police will conduct a detailed investigation into the complaint against me and Mr Aires Rodrigues and eventually the truth will surface.”

The complaint against Adv Gomes states that he is a Portuguese national, possessing several citizen cards of Portugal and has fraudulently registered in Goa as a voter, claiming to be Indian citizen.

The complaint states that the birth of Rajeev Savio Gomes was registered in the Central Registry of Births, Marriage and Deaths of Lisbon, Portugal as Assento de Nascimento No.1036066 /2010 on 15 April 2010.

The FIR against Adv Gomes has been filed for alleged offences under the Citizenship Act, 1955, and Section 177, 181, 419 and 420 of IPC of the Indian Penal   Code and under the Representation of People’s Act
