WhatsApp raises Group limit from 100 to 256

WhatsApp, one of the largest mobile-based group chat software, has increased the limit of its group members from 100 to 256, from today.

The silent upgradation has gone viral practically among all the WhatsApp users without the Facebook owners making any formal announcement in this regard.

The upgradation is visible in the Group Info section of each group on almost all the OS users, from Android to Windows.

The limit of 256 members was available only in the Broadcast mode of WhatsApp group all this time and not in the Group Chat.

The WhatsApp Group mode allows all its members to chat among themselves and it has 1 billion Groups spread all over the world.

Broadcast, on the other hand, facilitates the users to send messages to almost 256 members in one go, without providing the facility to Chat.

However, Broadcast requires the recipient saving your number, failing which WhatsApp blocks your service for sending messages to unsaved numbers, beyond certain limit.

The messaging company has recently hit 1 billion monthly active user mark, on par with Google's free email service, Gmail.

The latest statistical data gathered by goanews.com reveals that WhatsApp witnesses every day 42 billion messages, 1.6 billion photos and 250 million videos.

Many users are walking out of WhatsApp groups since it jams your mobile set with unwanted or repeated posting of photos and videos.

Smart users have however continued using WhatsApp by blocking photos and videos and sometimes even by blocking the unwanted numbers, the facility provided by WhatsApp.

The largest message company of the World last month got rid of its $1 (approximately Rs. 68) annual subscription fee, which was announced every time but not implemented in most of the cases.

Apart from scrapping the annual fee, WhatsApp also revealed its upcoming plans where it wants people to connect with businesses and organisation directly.

It has been reported that WhatsApp could soon introduce a feature to allow its users to integrate their Facebook account with the instant messaging and voice calling app.

The version 2.12.413 of WhatsApp for Android reveals company's intention to allow users to link the messaging service with their respective Facebook account.
