Fr Eremito shouldn’t exploit religion to mobilise people against Mopa: Mickky

Goa Vikas Party leader and Nuvem MLA Mickky Pacheco has blasted Fr Eremito Rebello on the issue of Mopa airport, stating that he should not use religion to mobilise people on the issue while keeping the politicians away.

Addressing a press conference in Margao, he also asked Fr Rebello why his candidate and minister Alina Saldanha had not taken any position on the issue.

Fr Rebello, who heads the agitation against Mopa airport, had reacted to Mickky’s statement on the Mopa airport issue, asking where he was for the last three years.

Mickky, who was silent on the issue as he was supporting the BJP-led coalition, had recently come out openly against the Mopa airport.

In retaliation, Mickky today reminded Fr Rebello that he had campaigned for late Matanhy Saldanha in Cortalim constituency while his wife Alina was now quiet on the issue.

“Let Fr Rebello tell me why he is quiet on Alina’s silence on the issue”, said Mickky, addressing a press conference.

The Nuvem MLA also asked why Fr Rebello had come to him requesting to send people in buses for his anti-Mopa rally if he thought he had a different stand.

“I was quiet because I wanted to give a chance to the BJP and see what they do, like I had given chance to the Congress earlier, on the Mopa airport issue”, he said.

Since both the parties have not responded positively to the issue, Mickky felt people should now give his GVP a chance so that Mopa issue could be solved once and for all.

“Fr Rebello doesn’t want to give platform to the politicians on the Mopa issue but doesn’t mind using religion to mobilise the people to fight a political issue. This is not fair”, said Mickky.

The Salcete MLA however did not forget to state that he had all the respects for Fr Rebello as a religious leader.

Out of the last 3 years: for 2 months MickeyMouse was in the "rat-hole or bhidd" (in Konkani) and 6 months minus "discount" in the "cage". Unlike him, I can confidently say that Fr.Eremito has not been promoting Ratol or dhirio. Also he has not been busy duping the EDC of five and half crores (which has now known to have become more that 8 crores). He has not been assaulting casino manager/staff. He has not been busy fraudulently sending people to U.S. and getting a ban on his entry to that country. But our dear Fr.Eremito has been busy in selflessly spearheading this Anti-Mopa movement. God bless you Fr.Eremito and please keep up the fight for Goa and for God's keep the politicians including Member of the Looters' Alliance out of it.

Who is Mickky to tell Fr Rebello?

Fr Rebello is citizen of India and he has every right to raise the issues.

Mickky should stop using Mopa issue for his political gain. Micky have only got big mouth.. if he guts then tell him to file 40 seats in Goa as he been saying for last 10 years.

Yes, Mickky you are right! Why Fr Eremito is silent on Alina Saldanha, Carlos Almeida, Avertano Furtado, Caitu, Benjamin etc? Is Fr. Eremito on BJP;s pay roll?
